The Central Record, 06/26/1903: Near Pott's Mill, across the line in Madison county Sunday, Fountain Land shot and inflicted, what will no doubt prove fatal wounds on his step-son, B. Land. It appears that B. Land come home Sunday morning under the influence of liquor and raised a quarrel with his mother, his step-father interfered. When Land made threats against him, and securing an axe, started back to the house armed with the axe and a knife, his mother closed the door, placing her husband behind her out of the way. B. Land then came to a window, and Fountain Land thinking he was trying to get in the window shot him with the above results. B. Land was about 35 years of age, and was a son of Bob Land, who was killed here many years ago by Freeman Farris, a negro.

This family needs further research. Because of the age of B. Land at his shooting, it seems that all the children listed with Fountain actually belong to Bob & Martha's marriage to Fountain should be much later than 1847.
