He was buried on 12 August 1928 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville, Jessamine Co., KY. HARRIS WALTER D. The sudden passing of Walter D. Harris was deeply regretted by the large concourse of friends here Friday night. Although he had been in ill health, suffering from heart trouble, for about a week, Thursday he felt better and the family were greatly encouraged of his condition. Mr. Harris was a member of the Methodist church and served as a member of the board of trustees; for years, he was a member of the Board of Supervisors of Jessamine county and a loyal Republican. His home was ever open to the entertainment of his friends and many gathered around his fireside to enjoy his companionship and hospitality. Surrounded by his family, he faced the great beyond with sublime faith, inspiring courage and cheerful resignation and from a world he loved, he crossed the great divide unafraid. His past record of honest, efficient, and faithful service, a true husband and devoted father, is his best eulogy. Mr. Harris was 65 years of age, a native of Jessamine county, and an influential farmer. He is survived by his widow, Mr.s Myrtie O. Harris, and the following children; Mrs. Martin Reed, Danville; Mrs. John A. Fawbush, Benham, Ky; Dr. Bascombe Harris, Birmingham, Ala; Mrs. B. C. Caywood, Miss Pearl, and W. P. Harris, of Nicholasville; one brother, Henry Harris and a sister, Mrs. John Brumfield, both of this county. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. M. Massie, assisted by Rev. G. W. Nutter, of Louisville. The Knights of Pythias members had charge of the services at the grave in Maple Grove Cemetery. The honorary pall bearers were G. L. Knight, J. D. Boone, W. R. Smith, David Knoble, T. S. Barr, N. L. Bronaugh, J. H. Hunter, Pete O'Hare, A. N. Rice, J. H. Fitch and C. C. Glass; casket bearers were W. B. Buford, F. W. Rice, J. A. Griggs, Dr. R. W. Daughterty, F. D. Smith, Sr., J. T. Edwards, S. N. Morford and Leslie Jacobs. HARRIS, WILLIAM P. William P. Harris, who died very suddenly at his home near Ambrose, Sunday afternoon, was one of Jessamine's oldest and most honored citizens. He was born near Glass' Mill, in Jessamine County, September 21, 1821, and had he lived until September, would have been 83 years old. Four children survive him, W. D., H. G., Miss Maggie J. and Mrs. John Brumfield, all of this county. One brother survives the deceased, Henry Harris, who is located in Pettis County, Missouri. Mr. Harris had been complaining for over a year, and, while he had been going about, was very feeble. Sunday morning, he was found near the house,in an unconscious condition, where he had gone a short time before dying in the afternoon. As a citizen, husband, father, and neighbor, Mr. Harris met all the requirements, and the community in which he lived, will greatly miss him. The funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the late residence by Rev. T. R. Stratton, of the Methodist Church, of which denomination the deceased had long been a faithful member. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to his last resting place in the old family burying ground. Jessamine Journal issue of Apr. 8, 1904. He was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville, Jessamine Co., KY. HARRIS, W. P. W. P. Harris, 88, East Oak Street, Nicholasville, died Thursday, August 11, at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. He was retired farmer and a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church, where he was an officer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nenia M. Harris, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Guyn, Kurtz, Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home by Rev. David Rish. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Active bearers were Tom Harrod, Jack Fawbush, William Walter Hemphill, Richard Mandt, Dean Hulett, and Jerry Garrett. Honorary bearers were Cecil Johnson, Francis Young, Bill Carter, Stanley Hager, Tom Kiger, and the officers of the Troy Presbyterian Church. Aug. 18, 1977 issue of The Jessamine Journal.
