Pink Overstreet, a well-known farmer of this county, died at his home near Pink, April 14th, of pneumonia, aged 75. He was born in the neighborhood where he was reared and lived all of his life. He was a man of honor, hardworking, and conscientious and leaves a good estate. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Harris and Mrs. C. S. Dean. ALEXANDER S. DEAN was born May 4, 1849, and is the sixth son of Harrison and Nancy (Owen) Dean. He was reared on a farm in Jessamine County, and educated at the common schools. He married, December 23, 1875, Miss Mattie J. Blakeman of Jessamine County, daughter of J. H. and Almedia (Wade) Blakeman. Three children were born to this union: James A., Buanna and Bryna. Mr. Dean has been a farmer all his life. He and wife both belong to the Christian Church. He owns seventy acres of good land in Sulphur Well District.

Pink is a Jessamine county community on KY 1268 between Little Hickman Creek and KY 39. It was named for the storekeeper John Pink Overstreet. The community was also known as Dean, for a local family, and Pluckemine (or Plegumine or Plaqumine), the origin of which is obscure. The area is now also known as Little Hickman, for the neighboring community and creek. A Pink post office operated from 1887 until 1904.
